
The Kanga Medical mod introduces up to 30 different illnesses. Some of those will cure themselves over time, others will require resting, elixirs or surgery.
Mod mechanics
You got sick? When you get an illness, an icon appears that tells you you are sick (press H). You will have a visual effect of being sick (e.g. coughing). But you won’t know which illness you have. You can visit an apothecary (player) and ask him to diagnose you on the medical cot, or you can use the personal diagnostic station. Craft an illness reactive electrolyte in it along with a bloodpack (syringe) and activate the station with a candle. The device will give you a diagnose both on the top of your screen (text) as well on the ‘sick’ icon. You can now purchase the correct cure to heal yourself. Don’t go messing around with the cures without knowing which illness you have, because taking the wrong cure will give you some bad side effects and most likely kill you.
Illnesses are level based and either triggered by being near a certain dino or structure (e.g. compost bin) or occur randomly. More dino’s and structures increase the chance you will get an illness. All illnesses add visual effects that gradually get worse until the illness is cured. You can take a potion to clear the visual effects of an illness, but it only works for a short amount of time, it does not cure the illness and it goes at the cost of your overall wellness.
There are 4 tiers of illnesses:
. low severity: these illnesses self cure over time. The illness lasts between 5 and 15 minutes. You need to lay down on a bed until the illness is cured. The longer you let the illness linger before you lay down on a bed, the longer you will need to stay in bed before the illness is cured. You can also consume a cure to clear it at once. The visual effects can go up to stage 1.
. medium severity: most of these illnesses don’t self cure over time. You need a cure to clear the illness. The visual effects can go up to stage 2.
. high severity: these illnesses don’t self cure over time. You need a cure to clear the illness. The visual effects can go up to stage 3 and you can pass out randomly.
. extreme severity: these illnesses don’t self cure over time. You need a cure to clear the illness. The visual effects can go up to stage 4 and you can pass out randomly.
When you cure an illness you get a recovery buff. The recovery buff lowers your melee and crafting skill by 5% and it increases your stamina drain rate. It lasts 5 minutes.
